Dominos – Extra Anchovies

February 8th, 2010

Earlier today I ordered a pizza from Dominos. It was a BEAST.

X-Large 16″ Brooklyn style pie with Extra Ham, Extra Bacon, Extra Provolone Cheese, and Extra Premium Chicken!

Dominos has this new dashboard that tells you the current status of your order. If it is being, prep’d, cooked, delivered, etc. I noticed that it was updating itself on the fly so I decided to poke around a bit. After looking at my http headers, I found that their dashboard was pulling an XML file using my OrderID and StoreID.

Browsing through the XML, I found some interesting things.

Such things as the order source, total time to make the pizza, total time in the oven, total time to drive to my house, and even my driver name lol.

What has to be the most interesting thing, is the OrderDescription.
It listed my order information (obviously):

<OrderDescription>
1 X-Large(16″) Brooklyn Pizza w/ Extra Ham, Extra Premium Chicken, Extra Anchovies, Extra Shredded Provolone Cheese
1 Buffalo Chicken Sandwich
1 Side Marinara Sauce Cup
</OrderDescription>

BUT, there was something different! EXTRA ANCHOVIES!?!?!?!?!?!!???!! My heart sunk! Had I accidentally added anchovies to my delicous pizza pie? I quicky went back to the dash board. It read ham, bacon, chicken, and provolone cheese. I fealt a little bit better.

The only conclusion that I came to is that those damn dev’s at Dominos have a sense of humor!

Making the time!

January 18th, 2010

Well I  am finally getting around to this thing. Its one of my many new years resolutions!

I spent the past month or so with a lot of different family members. My uncle flew into town and he and I went skiing. It was my first time. I had a lot of fun and look forward to doing it again sometime. Skiing is something that I’ve always wanted to try but I’ve never really had the opportunity or the means to do it. We spent the day at Mt. Spokane. I was doing  pretty good, especially after my private lessons. But my uncle had the bright idea of taking me up chair 3 to what we thought was another beginners hill… Turned out we where wrong, ended up having to ski UP a decent size stretch of the mountain and then ski down one of the intermediate hills… Long story short, it didn’t end well lol. I fell more times then I can count, had my ski’s fall off half of those times and about halfway through it my right calf muscle decided that it was done! So I limped down the other half of the mountain, falling a number of times before I landed at the lodge! We got some food and after a few hours I decided to give it another few go’s down the bunny hill. I got a few more runs down the hill before we called it a day. All in all, it was a TON of fun. Thanks Myles!

This last weekend was rather interesting as well. On Wednesday my dad told me that his cousin John( or Jon), committed suicide. I had never met him before. Nor had I really met his brother or sister. I knew his father somewhat well as I usually saw him once or twice a year for a wedding or family gathering of some sorts. But I hadn’t really met any of his kids. My dad decided that he was going to drive over for the weekend and see them. He asked me to go, I said yes but I was kind of hesitant. I wanted to go so that I could support my family because I knew that losing someone so long is an extremely hard loss to take. But I didn’t want to go because I hardly knew that side of my family. Hell I don’t even know my own side of my family that well heh. Anyways, I decided to go on the trip. My wonderful girlfriend Ashley offered to go with me. I really contemplated it because she is amazing and a ton of fun, but I didn’t want to put her through a weekend of sitting in a stuffy hotel room with my dad, my uncle and I :D

We got a started a few minutes late but we hit the road around 9:45. Everything was going good, then around ritzville we where driving down the road, and went over a hill and the next thing we saw was two state patrolmen on the side of the road flagging us down. I had grabbed my radar detector from my car before we left and we had been using it in the rental car. But the tricky bastards had a plane and where manually tracking peoples speed! Luckily we got off with a warning because it was a  rental car. They had clocked us at 77mph, 77mph, and 80 mph though. Wouldn’t of been a good ticket to have. Certainly glad I was not the one driving! I sure as hell don’t need another ticket on my insurance…

So we got back on the road and got in around 4ish if I recall correctly. Drove to my uncles home in Sammamish. Tucked into this cute little cul-de-sac was his house. It was a cute little 2 bedroom or so single level home. Something I hope to be being in the next few years. When we got their I was first introduced to my cousin Bob, my uncle Bobs son, and soon afterwards his sister Chris came over. I hadn’t ever really known either of them. They are both great people. Straight and to the point lol! We had a few drinks then went off to dinner. Ate some great thai food at a placed called Lanponi Thai in Sammamish. Boy do I love a good chicken curry :D Afterwards we went back to their place to grab a few things and went to our hotel room. The wake was planned for Saturday.

Saturday came and I met at least a dozen different distant relatives that I had never seen before. We stayed for a few hours and looked through some photo albums but we decided to leave so that they could grieve.

The drive home was rather eventful, but I was sure glad to be home!
